Before Sunrise: My Daydream Delusions

It only takes a romantic movie for me to feel in love. I don’t need a boyfriend right now especially when I think about all the stress a guy can give me. But someday, I know love will come as a complete surprise and I pray that it wouldn’t come like a flash flood that will eventually subside overnight. That it wouldn’t be shorter than 24 hours. That I wouldn’t have to say goodbye before sunrise.

Before Sunrise is now officially my new favorite movie. Thanks to that guy Lester. The movie overwhelmed me and I can say that I still am hung over by everything about it. I’m a sucker for movie quotes and because the movie is a dialogue all throughout, my quote belly was surely filled. I wish there’s still some guy like Jesse, whom I can have real sensible talks with. A guy who is never pretentious and not hesitant to share his unique thoughts and show his true colors, one who never seeks to impress.

And then I would have to tell that guy to come here. To come here. ;p

This is my most favorite part of the movie.

There’s wind that blows in from the north.
And it says that loving takes this course.
Come here. Come here.
No I’m not impossible to touch I have never wanted you so much.
Come here. Come here.
Have I never laid down by your side.
Baby, let’s forget about this pride.
Come here. Come here.
Well I’m in no hurry. Don’t have to run away this time.
I know you’re timid.
But it’s gonna be all right this time.

It’s amazing how two people can know so much about each other just after a few hours. You don’t really get to know a person by his biodata or curriculum vitae, anyway. You’ll know a person through his insights, his ideas, and opinion. I love how  Jesse and Celine talked about the world, about love, and life.

I also love this is a poem from the movie:

Daydream delusion
Limousine Eyelash
Oh, baby with your pretty face
Drop a tear in my wineglass
Look at those big eyes
See what you mean to me
Sweet cakes and milkshakes
I am a delusion angel
I am a fantasy parade
I want you to know what I think
Don’t want you to guess anymore
You have no idea where I came from
We have no idea where we’re going
Launched in life
Like branches in the river
Flowing downstream
Caught in the current
I’ll carry you. You’ll carry me
That’s how it could be
Don’t you know me?
Don’t you know me by now?

“So often in my life, I’ve been with people and shared beautiful moments like traveling or staying up all night and watching the sunrise. And I knew those were special moments. But something was always wrong. I wished I’d been with someone else. I knew what was the feeling, exactly what was so important to me, they didn’t understand. But I’m happy to be with you.”

A year or two after I post this, I hope I wouldn’t have to rely on romantic flicks just to feel giddy. I hope to have those unlimited finite moments with someone who’s worthy. Someone who I would want to have beside me each sunrise.
