Gleaming Guimaras: Raymen Beach Resort and Island Hopping

My cousin Bretzy and her friend Divine who are based in Manila went to Iloilo for a short vacay. We sailed across the vast seas (OA lang) from Iloilo to Guimaras Island for a beach getaway.

Here’s a perfect jump shot taken by our sailboat driver!

First, we boarded a motorboat from Ortiz at around 6am, then a tricycle for P250 from the terminal to Raymen Beach Resort, Alubihod, Guimaras. The driver offered to wait for us until the afternoon so we paid him P600 from the terminal to the beach and back. 20131117_075042

Ah, greens.

Divine, a sucker for comfort insisted on getting a room for P2200 when we only stayed there from 9am-2pm. 20131117_091148

Funny that we never actually swam in the beach. We took another boat to go island hopping. The rental fee is P500 for the first hour then P150 for each succeeding hour.

The boat ride was smooth and we sat there silently, marveling at the beauty of God’s creation. Too overwhelming with an unexplainable grandeur and perfection.

Our first stop is at Seafdec – Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center.

Divine dared to feed some fish here. 1455005_10201495955134900_1583394332_n

These fish can actually eat human flesh with the exemption of divers. Too bad I forgot its name.

Beautiful. It was simply beautiful with the white sand and crystal clear water.

Next stop was at the Turtle Island with only one turtle left! they had over 200 turtles there back then but they let them free about two years ago. This is the only one left there.20131117_113638

There’s this tunnel-like rock in the island that we loved. 20131117_114212

The turtle was young yet it weighed around 4 kilos! Heavy!

Our last stop was at the Bat Cave. Lol. Again, sorry because I didn’t take note of its name. 20131117_115606

1472899_10201496038336980_580614170_n (1)The water was cool and very clean that I wanted to dip in the water so bad. Unfortunately, I couldn’t or else it will turn into a red sea. Talk about perfect timing.

When you chance upon Iloilo, don’t forget to drop by Guimaras Island. Upon arrival at the port, you can consult the Tourism Officer after you register. There are lots of beach resorts in the Island that you can choose from. You can also opt to take the Day Tour of the whole  island. It’s the perfect white sand beach getaway since it’s near Iloilo City. Next time, I’ll make sure I get to stay the night so I can gaze at the stars while I lay on the white sand shore.

My cousin’s three-day vacay was surely a blast. It was brief yet worthwhile.
