Ingrid Michaelson and The Way I Am

Can one even begin to explain how music can make a day or how it can make you think of one person in particular?

I have no favorite genre in music. I can listen to James Morrison all day long. I can dance to Katy Perry in public (my sister filmed me doing a Hot ‘N Cold mtv outside our house). I can be addicted to Zedd or David Guetta for a long time. My favorite videoke pieces are Zombie, Alone, and She Bangs. House music can send me jumping up and down while on a roadtrip. I can cry my heart out singing Dadalhin Kita sa ‘king Palasyo or even rap a Salbakuta song. I smile a lot when The Platters’ Only You plays. And I can definitely cry to Yellowcard’s Only One.

When it comes to music, it’s only either I like it or I don’t. But these days, I realized I’m getting more inclined to singer-songwriters and Indie folk.

One particular artist that I love listening to these days is Ingrid Michaelson. Lots of her songs were included in the soundtrack of Grey’s Anatomy, One Tree Hill, and other series. They sound light yet they contain substance which, I believe, is the essence of music.

Simple yet full of emotion. You can also listen to her other songs here.

How about you? Who’s your current favorite singer?

If you were falling, then I would catch you.
You need a light, I’d find a match.

Cause I love the way you say good morning.
And you take me the way I am.

If you are chilly, here take my sweater.
Your head is aching, I’ll make it better.

Cause I love the way you call me baby.
And you take me the way I am.

I’d buy you Rogaine when you start losing all your hair.
Sew on patches to all you tear.

Cause I love you more than I could ever promise.
And you take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.
You take me the way I am.

See, you know she’s talking about one particular person, just as I am thinking about one particular person while listening to her too. πŸ˜‰

  1. I got most of my favorite songs and artists from Smallville and OTH. Ingrid is one of them. You might like Kate Nash’s The Nicest Thing, Rosi Golan’s Hazy (ft. William Fitzsimmons) and Ben Folds’ The Luckiest. πŸ™‚
