A few years ago, I said that I will come back to try more from Carlo’s Bakery Café’s menu. Just recently, I was invited by Paolo, one of Congressman Treñas’ sons, for an afternoon merienda at their Mandurriao branch. It was another lovely afternoon spent with fellow bloggers and Paolo as we learned more about Carlo’s early years and snacked on their new dishes.
From a humble bakery that catered to the demands of breads and wedding cakes at Sarabia Manor Hotel 28 years ago, Carlo’s has expanded to eight branches around Iloilo City. And since they also supply all over Panay, they’ve decided to open a branch in Antique this July.
The Mandurriao branch houses all their bestsellers and new creations. It has ample parking space, great air conditioning system, comfortable chairs, and fast WiFi. It’s the ideal place for client meetings and family bonding. The wide selection of bread and pastries makes it a one-stop shop for all your pasalubongs.
Wonder why it’s called Cardiac Arrest Carbonara? Try it so you’ll know how much it makes your heart beat fast that it gives you bloodshot eyes. It’s a meal that made me moan. Oopsie.
Scoops of happiness. Paolo also let us taste his brother Gerry’s homemade ice cream, Geronimo’s. If their Chocolate Cream Cake is my type of cake, this is my type of ice cream… next to DQ! It’s smooth, creamy, thick, and with just the right amount of sweetness.
I’m definitely going back for more of Carlo’s. Because I haven’t tried their Buffalo chicken wings and calamari yet!
