Ilonggos are hard to please. It might take a lot for an entertainer to get a great response from an Ilonggo crowd, but one easy way to an Ilonggo’s heart is through his stomach. I think that is what Choobi Choobi, a Cebuano food chain, has been doing since its soft opening at the SM City Iloilo expansion wing.
Just last week, we were invited to its Blessing Ceremony and Grand Opening. Erich Gonzales, its brand endorser graced the event with her presence. After the Blessing Ceremony led by Ptr. Raffy Gonzaga, she entertained the Ilonggos at the Expansion Wing Event Center with fun games. Of course, a press conference followed with the bloggers and the members of the media. To cap off the afternoon, we enjoyed savory and hearty Choobi Choobi specialties.
Before anything else started that afternoon, Ptr. Raffy Gonzaga shared a short sermon on the importance and significance of work. He pointed out that this is still all for the glory of God. Mr. Stan Tanchan then shared his testimony of how his acceptance of the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal savior changed his outlook in life and influenced his work and business. He is simply humbled and grateful for the Lord for the success of Choobi Choobi. It may only be a few years old, but this year it will already open its 23rd branch.
Choobi Choobi is Fookien for good time. In Cebuano or Ilonggo, lingaw-lingaw. It offers a no-fuss menu. It’s simply a collection of Mr. Stan Tanchan’s favorites. What you see is what you get or more. I especially love their sauces. A huge plus is that they only serve their food hot and fresh. They also have generous servings.
We did not only go home wih happy tummies, but we were truly entertained. Nalingaw gid kami sa Choobi Choobi. Yep, we were pleased.
