To say that I love coffee is an understatement. Coffee is my lifeblood. Without it, I am nothing but a useless human unable to perform my activities of daily living and my job. My life depends on it. I cannot speak with another human, let alone look at one with less judgment without getting my starter fluid.
At the Soft Opening of the newest Bo’s Coffee Branch in the new wing of SM City Iloilo, I have come to realize that coffee isn’t only a drink. Coffee-making is an art and a science. It is a depiction of a culture and passion. That afternoon, Bo’s highlighted Coffee Origins – a joint pursuit to bring to light the richness of our very own homegrown coffee. Handpicked by the experts, Bo’s showcases homegrown coffees from the mountains of Sagada, Benguet, Mt. Kitanglad, Mt. Apo, and Mt. Matutum.
Just like its Atria Branch, the area is cozy and certainly an eye candy for mug aholics like me. The VIPs – patrons – can now enjoy their favorite brews comfortably. The plush seats, bright walls, and vibrant colors matched with the hospitality of the staff complete the picture of a well-loved coffee shop.
Since it was an open house, we also got to try all the pastries on display. Boy, sugar overload!
I also tried my hand on the pour-over coffee brewing method. Interesting. And I would be glad to have my own coffee decanter at home in the future. That afternoon at Bo’s didn’t only make me appreciate my favorite drink more, but it also made me proud of our own Philippine homegrown coffee.
