The first and the only Converse that I have is a green and black hand-me-down Chucks from my cousin. Given that I stopped growing at 15 years old, the good ‘ol Chucks is still with me. It has transformed into its coveted “worn-out” look and is still in good shape. For more than a hundred years, Converse has proven that the old school look can go ahead of its time, even surpassing what the Converse lovers expect from their beloved brand.
The Iloilo Bloggers were invited to an intimate media session with Converse PH’s Marketing PR Officer Jeff Osoc. We were amused as we traveled down the memory lane and tackled the brand’s interesting history. I’d have to say that I was amazed with how Converse has stuck onto its classic and timeless looks but has managed to incorporate modern features that are apt for different lifestyles.
I’d only look at Converse as one back then. If not for that intimate media session, I’d never know that it has three other segments. A solid brand surely knows that even minute details matter.
From the court to the streets; from rubber to sneakers and boots, from the athletes to the masses. Without a doubt, Converse is the head honcho. It is the original, the heaviest hitter in the sneaker game. It is the sneaker of choice for all individuals – the thinkers, the rapper, artist, rebel, skater, and jetsetters. Although its different brand segments have their own target markets, it is interesting to note that they are all essentially alike. Minor tweaks that make huge differences all to cater to various interests and lifestyles. I think that is just pure genius.
If the Cons are for the skaters and the Chucks are for the freethinkers, I’d say the perfect match for me is the Jack Purcell. Plain, white, and with a smiley on the front – perfect for a hopeful and struggling yuppie.
Converse Counter Climate: Battling Time, Battling Weather
Mostly in canvas shield, Converse lovers usually complain that they cannot wear their sneakers during rainy weather. It’s hard to be up against nature, but Converse has amazingly come up with its Counter Climate Footwear Collection to be launched this Fall of 2016. Both new and time-honored styles have been improved to withstand climate shifts and developed with weather-beating benefits.
All these pieces and more of the brand’s products are available at the Converse Store, Robinson’s Place Iloilo.
That intimate media session just told me that a pair of Converse sneakers should be included on my list of must-haves. So when the budget permits, I’d have to get a pair of Jack Purcell. Borrowing a quote from the brand, “If you’re wearing Converse, you know who you are.” As timeless as it is, I know that I’ll be good with my hand-me-down Chucks and a pair of Jack Purcell probably for a lifetime. 😉
