Robinson's Jaro Presents 'The Virtuosos'

Virtuosos, a two-man classical show, featured two brilliant homegrown talents – Rofel John Parreño (Piano) and Jonathan Rei Dago (Violin).  Last December 22, they showcased heartwarming Christmas carols and medleys at Robinson’s Jaro.

Jonathan Rei Dago is a graduate of Biological Sciences from West Visayas State University and is set to move to Australia to pursue his studies in Clinical Counseling and Psychotherapy at Monash University. Although he is a violin virtuoso in his own right, he denies the title and credits it all to his mentor, Iloilo’s very own and internationally-acclaimed virtuoso and maestro Gilopez Kabayao. Dago aspires to be a mental health practitioner with specialties in music therapy.

Currently, Rofel John Parreňo is the music director of Jaro Adventist Church. He started learning to play the classical piano at age 6. He also underwent voice training and has hid first concern in 2009. Parreňo also starred at a local theater adaptation of Jesus Christ Superstar.

Powerful tenor Charlie Castor and the Mountain View Singing Ambassadors of Bukidnon also performed at the show.

This piece was my favorite. It proved that these two, using classical instruments, can bring more character and meaning to a pop song.

These months to come, let’s expect more Ilonggo talents to be showcased by Robinsons Malls.
