It is true that beautiful proof lies in ruins.
Don Mariano Ledesma Lacson had this extravagant mansion built in 1920 in memory of his wife, Maria Braga. To prevent the Japanese soldiers from turning it into a headquarters during the World War II in 1942, it was deliberately burned by the US Armed Forces with the family’s consent. Today, it stands as one of most popular tourist spots in Talisay, Negros Occidental.
The charm and the romance encapsulated within its sturdy columns and walls render my speechless. It stands as a reminder of a love that’s timeless, unrelenting, and beautiful despite being through the fire.
I will never get tired of coming back.
